Micro-grafting is the procedure of hair restoration by transplanting healthy follicles into the bald areas of the scalp. A micro-graft contains hair follicles that include from one to three hairs per follicle. These follicles make up the micro-graft donor patch. Micro-grafts are removed from a donor site, which is located on either the side or back of your scalp.

It is wise to get professional advice before you consider a treatment like this. Not all cases of baldness can be a candidate for surgery. There are issues for an individual to consider.

Micro-grafting is a process that is usually administered with local anesthesia to prevent the patient from feeling pain. With this numbing technique, the pain factor goes down. It allows the patient to be aware of what is going on without the uneasy feeling.

The preparation for hair transplant will start by numbing your scalp with local anesthetic. This will be applied to both the donor and recipient sites. After that, the donor area is measured then hair is trimmed a little.

The scalp will be given an injection filled with saline solution. This solution makes tissue-removal easier. The donor material is then removed. It will be in the form of long strips. These strips of tissue are removed by using a scalpel. An incision will be made deep enough to include your healthy hair follicles.

The area of hair to be removed is trimmed or cut close to the scalp. Then the desired amount of donor hair and skin are removed.

The donor skin and hair that was removed is then processed for division, under magnification. Then they will be placed at almost exactly the correct pattern and direction of your natural hair. This donor site is sutured, covered with a bandage and closed. A little scarring will result but is only detectable by close scrutiny. This should pose no alarm since the area will be covered with hair growth in no time.
